This spook-tastic drink is packed with tangy blackcurrant, fizzy apple juice and a touch of zing from the lime. The lychee and blueberry eyeballs are not only creepy but tasty too!
Ingredients:
● 1 heaped teaspoon of Blackcurrant Slime no added sugar fruit spread
● 150ml M&S pressed red grape, pomegranate and blackcurrant juice (you can use any dark fruit/berry juice)
● 150ml Sparkling apple juice (I used Biddenden’s)
● A squeeze of fresh lime juice
● Lychees (for the eyeballs)
● Blueberries (for the eyeballs)
● Ice
Equipment:
● Cocktail shaker, or clean empty jam jar
● Strainer (if you don’t have a cocktail strainer you can use a tea strainer or sieve)
Decoration: (Optional)
● Halloween-themed straws or cocktail stirrers
● Spooky spiders and webs
How to make your Creepy Currant Fizz:
1. Prepare the Eyeballs
Drain the lychees and place a blueberry inside each one to create a spooky eyeball effect. Set aside.
2. Mix the mocktail
In a cocktail shaker (or jam jar) add the blackcurrant slime jam, lime juice, your pressed juice, and shake with ice. Now add your sparkling apple juice and stir (Don’t shake again – fizzy drinks and shaking don’t go well together!) Set to one side.
3. Assemble your creepy creation
Add a few fresh ice cubes to each glass, then layer the prepared eyeballs and ice throughout the glass (eyeballs facing outwards) Now strain your mocktail over the ice and eyeballs.
Alternatively, leave out the ice so the eyeballs float in the top of the drink. Add a straw and serve immediately.
