| Having recently
won multiple 2005 Gold and Silver Great Taste awards, The Wooden Spoon
Preserving Company last night were also presented with Reserve Best
Speciality of the South East at the Guild of Fine Food Retailers 2005
Awards dinner for its Gooseberry in Sloe Gin preserve.
The above preserve
was one of two gold winners for the company, along with its Pilgrims
Raspberry Extra Jam. ‘We are delighted to have won these awards, especially
after all the hard work the team has done this year,’ said Commercial
Director Belinda Higgins. All our jams and marmalades are special products,
and this gives us heart to enter the competition again next year!’ she
added.
Silver awards also went to the company’s English Breakfast fine
cut marmalade, as well as the Blackcurrant No Added Sugar Spread.
Wooden Spoon was founded 30 years
ago in Wye, Kent, with the aim of producing preserves using traditional
methods and only natural ingredients. Today the company produces a
range of jams and marmalades that the ‘home made’ connoisseur
would be proud of. We are also a leader in the Fruits in Liqueur market,
and provide a growing range of chutneys, sauces, jellies and mustards.
The company is based in an idyllic setting below the Wye Crown, and visitors
can view production from a gallery situated in our small shop.
