Following the launch of the 2005
Taste of Kent Awards in Maidstone (20th April 2005), The Wooden Spoon
Preserving Company is
delighted to sponsor the ‘Best Farm Shop’ and 'Specialist Food
Shop' category.
The competition, sponsored by Produced in Kent, Kent Life and BBC Radio
Kent, is aimed at promoting good local food, and has 14 categories ranging
from Best Farm Shop to Best Young College chef.
Farm Shops and Specialist Food Shops have been cornerstone outlets for
Wooden Spoon products over the years, and this sponsorship recognises
the vital
role
they play
not only for the company but the rural community in general.
The closing date for the competition is 20th July, with the Awards
being announced on 15th September at the Hop Farm, Paddock Wood. To
nominate contenders to any category, you can obtain a form from Kent

Wooden Spoon was founded 30 years ago in Wye, Kent, with the aim of
producing preserves using traditional methods and only natural ingredients.
Today the company produces a range of jams and marmalades that the ‘home
made’ connoisseur would be proud of. We are also a leader in
the Fruits in Liqueur market, and provide a growing range of chutneys,
sauces,
jellies and mustards. The company is based in an idyllic setting below
the Wye Crown, and visitors can view production from a gallery situated
in our small shop.
