Wooden Spoon launched its new range of high fruit content compotes at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair this week. 80% fruit, 20% sugar is the simple message for this range of three products – Apricot & Cinnamon, Forest Berries & Strawberry, Rhubarb and Elderflower – available in 340g format.
‘We believe that high fruit content preserves are the way forward, and compotes are a natural extension of what we do best’ said MD Jeff Higgins. ‘These are ideal as desserts – with yoghurt, ice cream, meringue – and our next product (strawberry) will also be consistent enough to be used as a jam!’
Wooden Spoon was founded 30 years ago in Wye, Kent, with the aim of producing preserves using traditional methods and only natural ingredients. Today the company produces a range of jams and marmalades that the ‘home made’ connoisseur would be proud of. We are also a leader in the Fruits in Liqueur market, and provide a growing range of chutneys, sauces, jellies and mustards. The company is based in an idyllic setting below the Wye Crown, and visitors can view production from a gallery situated in our small shop.
